What is managed it support?

Managed IT support is a fixed monthly service where Dig IT Solutions takes responsibility for running your business technology: an unlimited helpdesk for staff, proactive monitoring and patching of every device, on-site engineers from our Hoddesdon office, and ownership of security, Microsoft 365, backups and suppliers. It suits organisations of up to 250 people that need an IT department without employing one.

The managed IT model

What one agreement covers

From the person to the backup. Every layer is monitored, maintained and supported by the same team.
  1. 01

    Users

    Accounts, MFA, onboarding and offboarding

  2. 02

    Devices

Laptops, desktops, servers: monitored, patched, protected

  3. 03

    Microsoft 365

    Licensing, SharePoint, Teams, conditional access

  4. 04

    Network

    Firewalls, switching, Wi-Fi, site-to-site links

  5. 05

    Security

EDR, email filtering, awareness, evidence for insurers

  6. 06

    Backups

Local and cloud, monitored daily, tested restores

Problems we fix

The problems this service exists to solve

  1. 01

    Nobody answers when something breaks

Tickets sit in a queue, staff work around problems, and the same fault comes back next month because nobody fixed the cause.

  2. 02

    IT is reactive and unbudgeted

Costs arrive as surprise invoices for emergencies and replacements rather than a predictable monthly figure you can plan around.

  3. 03

    Security is nobody's job

Patches are missed, multi-factor authentication is partial, leavers keep access, and backups have never been test-restored.

  4. 04

    Growth is outrunning the setup

New starters wait days for a laptop and logins, a second site is running on consumer kit, and Microsoft 365 has sprawled without structure.

Scope

What is included

Written into the agreement, not implied. Anything outside this list is scoped and quoted as a project so your monthly cost stays predictable.
  • 01

    Unlimited helpdesk for your staff

Phone, email and portal access to engineers during support hours. Remote resolution first via secure remote access, so most issues are fixed while the user watches.

  • 02

    Proactive monitoring and patching

Every managed device is monitored, kept up to date with Windows and third-party updates, and flagged before a failing disk or full mailbox becomes downtime.

  • 03

    On-site engineers when it matters

Hardware, cabling, new office setups and hands-on fixes are covered by engineers travelling from Hoddesdon across Hertfordshire, west Essex and London.

  • 04

    Security baseline built in

Managed endpoint detection and response, MFA, email protection and secure configuration are part of the service, not a separate upsell you have to remember to ask for.

  • 05

    Microsoft 365 administration

Licensing, user changes, SharePoint and Teams structure, conditional access and security settings managed centrally so the tenant stays tidy and safe.

  • 06

    Onboarding and offboarding

New starters get accounts, devices and access on day one through a simple request form. Leavers are removed the same day, with data retained where you need it.

  • 07

Backup you can actually restore from

Local and cloud backups for servers and Microsoft 365, monitored daily and tested, so a ransomware event or deleted mailbox is an inconvenience rather than a crisis.

  • 08

    Supplier and vendor management

We deal with your broadband provider, printer company and software vendors on your behalf, so your team is not stuck in the middle of a blame game.

  • 09

    Documentation and reporting

Your environment is documented from day one, and you receive plain-English reporting on tickets, patch status, backup results and recommendations.

Process

How it starts

  1. 01

    Discovery and audit

We review your users, devices, Microsoft 365, network, backups and current contracts, then document everything we find and score the risks.

  2. 02

    Proposal and scope

You get a clear scope, a per-user or per-device monthly price, and a written list of what is included and what would be quoted as a project.

  3. 03

    Onboarding

Monitoring agents, security tooling and backup are deployed, credentials and documentation are secured, and staff are told how to get help. The changeover itself typically takes up to 2 days, run alongside any outgoing provider.

  4. 04

    Ongoing support and review

Day-to-day support starts, with regular reviews of performance, risks, upcoming renewals and a 12 to 36 month roadmap so nothing is a surprise.

Outcomes

What changes for the business

  • One number to call and one team accountable for the outcome
  • Predictable monthly cost instead of emergency invoices
  • Fewer repeat faults because causes are fixed, not symptoms
  • A security baseline your insurer and clients can ask about
  • Faster new-starter setup and clean, same-day leaver removal

What clients say about working with us

“Vince is the most dedicated IT professional I've ever had the pleasure of working with. His business has been running a long time so they really know what they're doing; they have systems and procedures in place and he stays ahead of the game when it comes to the latest technology. From fixing a broken computer screen to completely networking my offices. Highly recommend him. If there was a six out of five I would give it.”

FAQ

Questions we are asked

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call 020 8482 4020 or 01992 939 365 and ask an engineer.
What is included in managed IT support?
A managed IT support contract from Dig IT includes an unlimited helpdesk for your staff, monitoring and patching of every device, endpoint security, Microsoft 365 administration, backup monitoring, onboarding and offboarding, supplier management and regular reviews. Projects such as office moves, cabling or migrations are scoped and quoted separately so your monthly fee stays predictable.
How much does managed IT support cost?
Managed IT support is normally priced per user or per device each month, and the figure depends on headcount, number of sites, server estate and the level of security you need. Our online calculator gives an indicative monthly range in about two minutes, and a short discovery call turns that into a fixed quote.
How quickly do you respond to support requests?
Requests are triaged by impact. Something stopping several people working is dealt with ahead of a single printer fault. Most issues are resolved remotely during the first contact, and on-site visits are arranged where hardware or cabling is involved. Response and resolution targets are written into your agreement rather than advertised as a marketing number.
Do you support businesses outside Hertfordshire?
Yes. Our office is in Hoddesdon and engineers cover Hertfordshire, west Essex and London on site, with remote support for anywhere in the UK. Multi-site clients with several depots are supported through a mix of remote tools, site-to-site networking and scheduled visits.
Can you work alongside our internal IT person?
Yes. Co-managed support gives an in-house IT lead a helpdesk to escalate to, cover for holidays and sickness, and access to monitoring, security and backup tooling that would not be cost-effective for one person to run. You decide who owns which tasks.
What happens if we want to leave?
Your documentation, administrator credentials and data belong to you and are handed over in full. Notice periods are set out plainly in the agreement. We would rather keep clients by doing good work than by making it difficult to leave, which is how we have kept some clients for over a decade.
Do you offer 24/7 support?
Automated monitoring runs around the clock and raises alerts on failures, backups and security events. Staffed helpdesk hours, and any out-of-hours arrangements for businesses that need them, are agreed per contract. We are careful not to advertise a 24/7 desk that is really an answering service.
