Managed IT support

IT support in Hertfordshire for businesses

Managed IT, cyber security, Microsoft 365, networks, backup, phones and CCTV from one Hoddesdon-based team, in business since 2001.

In short

Dig IT Solutions is a Hoddesdon-based managed IT support and cyber security provider for Hertfordshire businesses of up to 250 people. From our office at Datum House, Essex Way, we cover Broxbourne, Hertford, Ware, Cheshunt, Bishop's Stortford, Stevenage, Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City and St Albans, fixing most issues remotely and sending engineers on site typically the same day.

Overview

How we cover the area

Hertfordshire is not one business market. The east of the county, around Hoddesdon, Hertford, Ware and the Lea Valley, is trade, distribution, plant hire and light industry mixed with professional offices in the market towns. The A1(M) corridor, from Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City up to Stevenage, is headquarters, pharma, aerospace and the supply chains that serve them. St Albans and the west is professional services with a City client base. We have supported businesses in the county for years, and each of our town pages describes the local picture honestly, including how long it takes us to get there.

What a Hertfordshire business of up to 250 people usually needs from us is one accountable team rather than a helpdesk, a security vendor, a phone company and a cabling contractor who all blame each other. Managed IT support covers the helpdesk, monitoring and patching, Microsoft 365 and the day-to-day questions. Cyber security adds EDR on every device, email security, MFA and Cyber Essentials readiness. Networking, structured cabling, Wi-Fi, VoIP on 8x8 and UniFi Protect CCTV cover the physical side. Backup and disaster recovery, local and cloud, covers the day something goes badly wrong.

We are remote-first, which is the honest description of any modern MSP. Most tickets are fixed through Splashtop while you are on the phone, and remote monitoring handles Windows updates and alerts overnight. Where we differ from a national provider is that our engineers are in Hoddesdon, so an on-site visit to Hertford is 15 to 20 minutes, Cheshunt or Ware 15, Harlow 20, Hatfield or Welwyn Garden City 25 to 30, Bishop's Stortford 30, Stevenage 35 and St Albans 35 to 40. We publish those figures because you should choose a provider knowing where they actually are.

Two Hertfordshire clients illustrate the range. The Hertfordshire Golf & Country Club at Broxbournebury needed a network built from nothing inside a 16th-century Grade II listed mansion, with mesh Wi-Fi through metre-thick walls, guest Wi-Fi with bandwidth controls for the bars and pro shop, and cameras at roughly half the cost of a traditional CCTV install. Mr Plant Hire, a client for more than 15 years, runs multiple depots on site-to-site VPNs, Microsoft 365 and SharePoint, teleworker gateways, EDR and RMM. Both are on our case studies pages, with details rather than adjectives.

Why Dig IT

Why businesses here choose us

  • 01

Based in the county, not listed in it

Our office is at Datum House, Essex Way, Hoddesdon EN11 0DU. Engineers leave from there, and the drive times on our town pages are the real ones. A service-area listing on a map is not the same as a team that lives and works here.

  • 02

One team for support, security and the physical stuff

Helpdesk, Microsoft 365, EDR, backups, Wi-Fi, structured cabling, 8x8 phones and UniFi Protect cameras are all delivered by the same engineers. When the internet is slow, nobody has to work out whose fault it is before it gets fixed.

  • 03

    Transparent per-device pricing

We publish indicative monthly figures per computer, phone, printer, firewall and server, and an on-page calculator estimates your cost in a minute. The figures are dated and marked subject to confirmation, because that is what honest pricing looks like.

    Long-standing Hertfordshire clients

Dig IT Solutions has traded since 2001, with clients such as Mr Plant Hire supported for more than 15 years across multiple depots and the Hertfordshire Golf & Country Club for more than five. Google reviews name our engineer Vince, because clients deal with people, not ticket numbers.

The Hertfordshire Golf & Country Club: a modern network inside a 16th-century mansion

The Hertfordshire Golf & Country Club at Broxbournebury Mansion, Broxbourne, needed an entire network built from nothing across a large, diverse site whose Grade II listed clubhouse made traditional cabling impractical. Dig IT Solutions designed a UniFi-based network, mesh Wi-Fi, guest access and a camera system, and has supported the club for over five years.

What clients say about working with us

Reviews left on Google by the businesses we support. Several name the engineer who did the work, which is how we like it.
“Dig IT Solutions helped us reorganise our messy network cabinet. They rewired and renumbered all Ethernet ports, installed a secure switch, and set up a shared drive for staff use. Everything was completed efficiently and to a high standard. I'm very pleased with the outcome and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dig IT Solutions to anyone needing reliable IT support.”

FAQ

Questions we are asked

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call 020 8482 4020 or 01992 939 365 and ask an engineer.
Which parts of Hertfordshire do you cover for on-site IT support?
All of the county, with the fastest response in the east. From Hoddesdon we reach Broxbourne, Cheshunt, Hertford and Ware in about 15 to 20 minutes, Hatfield and Welwyn Garden City in 25 to 30, Bishop's Stortford in 30, Stevenage in 35 and St Albans in 35 to 40. Watford, Hemel Hempstead and Hitchin are covered remotely with planned visits. Each town page lists the drive time so there are no surprises.
How much does managed IT support cost in Hertfordshire?
We price per device rather than per user. Indicative figures, reviewed October 2026 and confirmed in a written quote, are £17.50 per computer or laptop, £16.50 per desk phone with the line included, £10 per network printer, £25 per router or firewall and £150 per server, each per month. A 20-person office with a firewall and a server typically lands in the mid hundreds per month. The cost calculator on our site gives an instant estimate and a scoping call confirms it.
Do you offer 24/7 support?
Our helpdesk runs during business hours, with remote monitoring and patching running around the clock so problems are often fixed before you notice them. We do not advertise 24/7 engineer cover, because we would rather tell you exactly what you get than promise a rota we do not run. For businesses with genuine out-of-hours needs, such as leisure venues or depots with early starts, we agree specific arrangements in writing.
Can you help a Hertfordshire business get Cyber Essentials?
Yes. We prepare businesses for Cyber Essentials by putting the five control areas in place: firewalls, secure configuration, access control, malware protection and patch management, and we document them for the self-assessment. Certification itself is issued through IASME and its certification bodies, not by us, and we do not claim otherwise. Our cyber security Hertfordshire page explains the process in more detail.
How do we switch to you from our current Hertfordshire IT provider?
Switching is a planned handover, not a leap. We review your contract end date and notice period, list what we need from the outgoing provider such as admin credentials, licences and documentation, run an IT health check, and schedule the changeover so nobody loses a day. Our switching guide sets out the steps and timescales, and multi-site handovers are something we have done for depots across Hertfordshire, Essex and London.
Do you work with businesses that already have an internal IT person?
Yes. Co-managed IT support is common for Hertfordshire firms of 50 to 100+ people with one internal IT lead who cannot be everywhere. We provide the helpdesk overflow, monitoring, patching, security tooling and project engineers, and they keep ownership of strategy and the relationship with the business. The split is agreed in writing so both sides know who does what.
