What is outsourced it support?

Outsourced IT support replaces or extends an in-house IT function with an external team on a fixed monthly contract. Dig IT Solutions provides the helpdesk, engineers, security tooling, Microsoft 365 administration and strategic planning that a business of 20 to 150 staff would otherwise need to hire for, at a fraction of the cost of a two or three-person internal team.

Problems we fix

The problems this service exists to solve

  1. 01

One person is your entire IT department

When they are off, ill or leave, knowledge and access go with them. Nobody has checked their work or their backups.

  2. 02

    Hiring is slow and expensive

A competent IT manager in Hertfordshire or London costs a full salary plus tooling, training and cover, and still cannot be an expert in security, networks and Microsoft 365 at once.

  3. 03

The office manager has become IT

Someone with a different job is resetting passwords, buying laptops from Amazon and calling the broadband company on hold.

  4. 04

You need strategy, not just fixes

Nobody is planning the hardware refresh, the Windows upgrade, the cyber insurance questionnaire or the second office.

Scope

What is included

Written into the agreement, not implied. Anything outside this list is scoped and quoted as a project so your monthly cost stays predictable.
  • 01

    Helpdesk and engineers

The same unlimited helpdesk, remote support and on-site engineers as our managed IT service, covering every user and device.

  • 02

    Named point of contact

A lead engineer who knows your business, attends reviews and is accountable for the relationship, backed by the wider team for cover and depth.

  • 03

    Security operations

Endpoint detection and response, MFA and conditional access, email protection, patching and security reporting run as a routine, not a project.

  • 04

    Strategy and budgeting

A rolling roadmap, renewal calendar and budget so hardware, licensing and projects are planned and spread rather than arriving as emergencies.

  • 05

    Projects and change

Office moves, migrations, network upgrades and new sites delivered by the team that already supports you, with fixed-price quotes.

  • 06

    Vendor management

We hold the relationships with your ISP, phone provider, printer company and software vendors, and chase them so you do not have to.

Process

How it starts

  1. 01

    Understand the business

What you do, how staff work, what systems matter most, what keeps the directors awake, and what the current IT arrangement costs you in money and time.

  2. 02

    Audit and document

Users, devices, licences, network, security posture, backups, contracts and any single points of failure, written up in plain English.

  3. 03

    Transition

Tooling deployed, credentials secured, knowledge captured from any outgoing person or provider, staff briefed. Nothing is switched off until the replacement is proven.

  4. 04

    Run and improve

Support starts, reporting begins, and the roadmap is reviewed regularly with whoever owns IT on your board.

Outcomes

What changes for the business

  • The cost of a fraction of one salary for the capability of a team
  • No single point of failure in knowledge or access
  • Security handled by people who do it every day
  • A plan and a budget instead of a series of surprises

What clients say about working with us

“Vince is the most dedicated IT professional I've ever had the pleasure of working with. His business has been running a long time so they really know what they're doing; they have systems and procedures in place and he stays ahead of the game when it comes to the latest technology. From fixing a broken computer screen to completely networking my offices. Highly recommend him. If there was a six out of five I would give it.”

FAQ

Questions we are asked

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call 020 8482 4020 or 01992 939 365 and ask an engineer.
What is the difference between outsourced and managed IT support?
In practice they overlap heavily. Managed IT support describes the proactive, fixed-fee service model. Outsourced IT support describes the decision to have an external team act as your IT department rather than hiring. Dig IT delivers both through the same helpdesk, engineers and tooling; the outsourced conversation usually starts with a business comparing us against recruiting.
Is outsourcing IT cheaper than hiring an IT manager?
For most organisations under 150 staff, yes. A single mid-level IT hire in Hertfordshire or London costs a full salary, employer costs, tooling, training and holiday cover, and still leaves gaps in specialist areas. An outsourced contract is typically priced per user per month and includes the tooling, so the comparison is usually clear once both are written down.
Will we lose control of our IT?
No. You retain ownership of all accounts, licences, domains and data, and administrator credentials are documented and shared with you. We report on what we do and why. Many clients keep an internal owner for IT decisions, with Dig IT doing the operational work.
Can you take over from an internal IT person who is leaving?
Yes, and this is a common starting point. We run a structured handover: capturing documentation, passwords and supplier details, checking backups and security, and shadowing their day-to-day work before they leave. If they are staying, co-managed support lets them keep the parts they want.
How long does it take to outsource our IT?
Less time than most people expect. The changeover typically takes up to 2 days, longer for multi-site businesses or where documentation is poor. Support can begin on day one for urgent issues while the remaining documentation completes in the background.
