In short

Dig IT Solutions provides managed IT support for golf clubs, country clubs, gyms, spas and leisure venues across Hertfordshire, Essex and London. We design member and guest Wi-Fi, support booking, membership and EPOS systems in the pro shop, bars and kitchens, install UniFi Protect CCTV and keep it working through weekend peaks. Proven at The Hertfordshire Golf & Country Club for over five years.

Who this is for: Members' and proprietary golf clubs, country clubs, hotels with leisure facilities, gyms, spas, racquet clubs and event venues, typically 15 to 120 staff including seasonal and casual teams. We usually work with the general manager, club secretary, finance manager or the owner of the course.

Sector pressures

What keeps golf clubs & leisure up at night

  1. 01

Listed buildings and estates measured in acres

A 16th-century Grade II listed clubhouse with metre-thick walls swallows Wi-Fi, and listed-building consent rules out drilling wherever you like. Then there is the halfway hut, the driving range, the greenkeepers' compound and the terrace. Broxbournebury Mansion at The Hertfordshire is exactly this problem, and it took a designed network rather than more access points to solve.

  2. 02

Members judge the club by the Wi-Fi

Members expect to check a scorecard on the terrace, visitors expect to post from the bar, and a wedding party expects a hundred phones to work at once. None of them should be able to see the tills or the office. Guest Wi-Fi with bandwidth control on its own network is the difference between a compliment at the AGM and a complaint.

  3. 03

Tills, tee sheets and kitchens at peak

Saturday medal, a society day and a function in the evening put the pro-shop EPOS, bar tills, kitchen printers, card terminals and booking system under load at the same time. Intelligent Golf, ClubV1 and BRS all depend on the network beneath them, and a switch failing at 7am on competition day is remembered for years.

  4. 04

Seasonal staff, shared tills and member data

Bar and kitchen casuals share till logins, summer starters are given the manager's password, and the membership database holds names, addresses and direct debit details for every member. Card payments bring PCI DSS expectations from your acquirer. Named accounts and a proper starter and leaver routine keep the club on the right side of all of it.

  5. 05

    Security across an open site

Car parks fill with expensive vehicles, the pro shop holds high-value stock and the greenkeeping sheds hold machinery worth more than most cars. Premises licence conditions often require CCTV in the bar, and insurers want coverage of entrances and compounds. Cameras across such a wide site need a network that reaches them.

What we do

How we support you

  • 01

Wi-Fi designed for the building, not bought off the shelf

A site survey first, then UniFi mesh and outdoor access points placed where the walls allow, with separate networks for members, visitors, staff and tills and bandwidth control so a function does not slow the bar. This is the design we delivered at The Hertfordshire Golf & Country Club.

  • 02

A network from nothing, routed with respect for the building

Structured cabling and fibre to outbuildings run discreetly through a listed clubhouse, UniFi or Cisco Meraki switching and firewalls, and documentation so the next general manager knows where everything goes. See it infrastructure networking service.

  • 03

Booking, membership and EPOS systems kept running

We support the PCs, tills, printers and connectivity behind Intelligent Golf, ClubV1, BRS and your EPOS, monitor the workstations, and work with each vendor on application faults so the club has one number to call on a Saturday morning.

  • 04

CCTV through UniFi Protect on the same network

Cameras covering the car park, pro shop, bar, compounds and entrances, recorded on-site and viewable from the office or a phone. At The Hertfordshire we delivered this at roughly half the cost of a traditional CCTV install because it runs on the network we had already built.

  • 05

Microsoft 365, security and backups for the office

MFA and conditional access for office and management accounts, email security to stop the fake invoice from a supplier, EDR on every PC, and local and Microsoft 365 backups of the membership database, accounts and documents, tested by restore.

  • 06

Helpdesk, on-site engineers, phones and kit

Remote support via Splashtop for the pro shop or office, on-site engineers from Hoddesdon when a till or access point needs replacing, 8x8 VoIP linking pro shop, office and bar, HP or Dell hardware, and starter and leaver forms for the seasonal team.

Compliance and expectations

  • UK GDPR, member data and CCTV

Membership records include contact details, payment mandates and sometimes health information for gym users. The ICO expects controlled access, retention limits and, for CCTV, signage and defined retention with restricted viewing. We configure accounts, backups and UniFi Protect to match.

    Information Commissioner's Office
  • PCI DSS and card payments

Your card acquirer expects payment terminals and EPOS to be kept apart from guest traffic and to run on a maintained network. Separating the till network from member and visitor Wi-Fi, and keeping the EPOS PCs patched, are the practical steps behind the annual questionnaire.

  • Premises licence conditions

Many premises licences require CCTV in licensed areas with footage retained for a set period and available to police on request. UniFi Protect meets these conditions when retention and access are configured correctly, and we document the settings for the designated premises supervisor.

  • Cyber Essentials

Clubs handling member payments and personal data are increasingly asked by insurers about baseline cyber controls. The five Cyber Essentials controls are what we run for every club, and we support the self-assessment when the committee decides to certify.

The Hertfordshire Golf & Country Club: a modern network inside a 16th-century mansion

The Hertfordshire Golf & Country Club at Broxbournebury Mansion, Broxbourne, needed an entire network built from nothing across a large, diverse site whose Grade II listed clubhouse made traditional cabling impractical. Dig IT Solutions designed a UniFi-based network, mesh Wi-Fi, guest access and a camera system, and has supported the club for over five years.

Switching to us

How the handover works

A club changeover starts with a walk of the whole site: clubhouse, pro shop, halfway hut, greenkeepers' compound and range, recording every cable, access point, till, camera and login, most of which will never have been written down. We plan any network work for the quiet season and never on a competition or function day, run alongside the outgoing provider during handover, and brief the office, bar and pro shop separately. How switching works, and what we need from your existing provider, is at our switching IT provider guide.

FAQ

Golf Clubs & Leisure: questions we are asked

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call 020 8482 4020 or 01992 939 365 and ask an engineer.
Can you get Wi-Fi across a listed clubhouse and out onto the course?
Yes, with a survey rather than guesswork. Thick walls and heritage restrictions mean access points go where the building allows and mesh links bridge the gaps, with outdoor-rated units for terraces, the range and halfway huts. At The Hertfordshire Golf & Country Club we built a whole network from nothing inside a 16th-century Grade II listed mansion with metre-thick walls, and the case study describes how.
Do you support Intelligent Golf, ClubV1 or BRS?
We support everything these systems rely on: the tills, PCs, printers, card terminals, connectivity and user accounts, and we monitor the workstations so problems are caught early. When an issue is inside the application we work with the vendor on your behalf, so the pro shop and office have one number to call rather than a list of suppliers.
Can members and visitors use the same Wi-Fi as the tills?
They should not, and with a properly designed network they do not need to. Members, visitors, staff and payment systems each get their own network on the same access points, with guest traffic isolated and bandwidth-limited so a busy function cannot slow the bar or reach the office. That separation is also what your card acquirer expects for PCI DSS.
Can you install CCTV at the club?
Yes. We install UniFi Protect cameras covering entrances, car parks, the pro shop, licensed areas and the greenkeepers' compound, recorded on-site with retention set to your licence conditions and insurer's requirements, and viewable securely from the office or a phone. Because it runs on the club network we manage, there is no separate CCTV contractor, which is how we halved the cost at The Hertfordshire.
How much does IT support cost for a golf club?
Managed IT support is typically priced per user or per device per month, and for a club the count of tills, PCs, access points, cameras and phones across the site matters more than office headcount. Our indicative per-device figures are on our pricing page, and you can build an estimate that reflects your clubhouse and course at the IT support cost calculator.
We have no IT person and a seasonal team. Can you cover that?
That is the usual position for a club, and it is what we are set up for. The general manager or secretary gets one accountable team for support, security, network, phones and CCTV, seasonal starters and leavers are handled through simple forms, and shared till logins are replaced with named accounts so nobody is using last summer's password. Nothing needs an IT person on the payroll.
