In short
Dig IT Solutions provides managed IT support for law firms and solicitors across Hertfordshire, west Essex and London. We run the helpdesk, harden Microsoft 365 with MFA and conditional access, defend against the mailbox compromise behind conveyancing fraud, and keep case-management systems such as LEAP, Clio and Proclaim available. It suits practices of 5 to 60 fee-earners with no in-house IT team.
Who this is for: High-street and regional practices of roughly 5 to 60 fee-earners, from single-office conveyancing and private client firms to multi-department practices with two or three branches. We usually work with the managing partner, practice manager or COFA, alongside the office manager who became the IT contact by default.
Sector pressures
What keeps law firms up at night
Client money and payment diversion fraud
Completion funds are the most valuable target on your network. An attacker who gets into one mailbox can watch a conveyancing matter progress and then send altered bank details from a thread the client already trusts. The SRA publishes scam alerts about this pattern regularly. Email security, MFA and a verification habit for every change of bank details are the controls that stop it.
SRA Standards and Regulations, Lexcel and CQS
Regulators and quality schemes expect a firm to show its working: who can open which matters, how laptops are encrypted, how you would keep serving clients if the office was unavailable, and how a breach would be reported. Most practices have the intent but not the documentation, and it is the documentation an assessor asks for.
Case-management systems that everyone depends on
LEAP, Clio, Proclaim and Osprey are where the fee-earning happens, and each integrates deeply with Word and Outlook. A cloud-hosted system depends on stable internet and secure identities. An on-premises system depends on a server that is patched, backed up and replaced before it fails. An untested Office update can stall a whole department either way.
Court deadlines and hearing days
Bundles, CE-File submissions and remote hearings over CVP or Teams all have hard cut-offs. A laptop that dies at 8am on a hearing day is a professional conduct problem, not just an inconvenience. Practices need a helpdesk that picks up straight away, spare devices ready to go and a way to reach documents from anywhere.
Confidentiality across hybrid working and personal devices
Fee-earners draft at home, review at court and email from clients' offices. Matter files end up on personal laptops and instructions arrive over WhatsApp. Conditional access, device management and encryption keep privileged material where it belongs, and a same-day leaver process stops a departing solicitor taking the client list to a rival firm.
What we do
How we support you
A helpdesk fee-earners actually use
Remote support via Splashtop for the Word crash before a hearing, and on-site engineers from Hoddesdon when a server or branch network needs hands. Practice managers get one number, one accountable team and a ticket history they can show at a Lexcel review.
Microsoft 365 hardened for a regulated practice
MFA on every account, conditional access that blocks sign-ins from unmanaged devices, mailbox audit logging switched on, and SharePoint permissions built around departments and matters rather than one open shared drive. See our Microsoft 365 security work at security service.
Email security aimed at payment fraud
Filtering against impersonation and lookalike domains, SPF, DKIM and DMARC configured so your own domain is harder to spoof, and external-sender warnings. We pair it with security awareness training so conveyancers verify bank details by phone on a known number, every time.
EDR on every fee-earner device
Endpoint Detection and Response instead of legacy antivirus, so a ransomware attempt on a laptop is isolated before it reaches the matter files. Windows and application patching runs through our remote monitoring and management platform, with reports you can keep for your COLP.
Backups you can evidence
Local and cloud backups of on-premises servers and case-management databases, plus Microsoft 365 backup for mailboxes, OneDrive and SharePoint. We test restores and keep the reports, because business continuity is something assessors ask you to prove rather than describe.
Joiner, mover and leaver control
New-starter and leaver forms in our client portal set up accounts, licences, case-management logins and mailbox access before day one, and revoke them the day a fee-earner leaves. Departed mailboxes are retained so live matters carry on without a gap.

Compliance and expectations
SRA Standards and Regulations
The SRA expects firms to keep client affairs confidential and to run effective systems and controls, including for client money. In IT terms that means access control per matter, encrypted and managed devices, an audit trail of who did what, and a recovery plan you can describe accurately if something goes wrong.
Solicitors Regulation AuthorityUK GDPR and the ICO
Client files contain identity documents, financial details and often health or family information. A reportable breach has to reach the ICO within 72 hours, so you need logging that tells you what was accessed and a provider who can help you establish the facts quickly.
Information Commissioner's OfficeLexcel and the Conveyancing Quality Scheme
Both Law Society schemes ask for documented information security and business continuity arrangements. We supply the evidence from our side: device inventories, patch status, backup and restore reports, and the joiner and leaver records that show access is controlled.
Cyber Essentials
Lender panels, insurers and larger commercial clients increasingly ask whether a firm holds Cyber Essentials. Its five technical controls are the baseline we run for every practice, and we help you prepare the self-assessment when you decide to certify.

Switching to us
How the handover works
Switching a law firm starts with discovery: we map every system, matter store, integration and login, then document it properly, often for the first time. We run alongside your outgoing provider during handover so nothing drops, agree a change freeze around completions and hearing dates, and brief fee-earners and support staff in plain English on what changes and what does not. The full process, including what we need from your old provider, is at our switching IT provider guide.
