Microsoft 365

Microsoft 365 support, migration and security

Most businesses pay for Microsoft 365 and use a fraction of it, while leaving the security settings that matter switched off. We fix both.

What is microsoft 365?

Dig IT Solutions supports, migrates and secures Microsoft 365 for businesses across Hertfordshire and London. That covers choosing the right licences, moving email and files from Google Workspace or on-premise servers, structuring SharePoint and Teams so files are findable and permissions make sense, enforcing MFA and conditional access, and adding independent backup, because Microsoft does not back up your data for you.

Problems we fix

The problems this service exists to solve

  1. 01

Licences that do not match how people work

Business Basic for people who need desktop apps, Premium features paid for and never enabled, and licences still assigned to people who left.

  2. 02

A tenant that grew without a plan

Hundreds of Teams, duplicated files across OneDrive and SharePoint, and nobody sure which copy is the right one.

  3. 03

    Security defaults left as delivered

MFA not enforced, legacy protocols still on, global admin used for daily email, no conditional access, and audit logging never checked.

  4. 04

    Believing Microsoft backs it up

Deleted mailboxes and files are gone once retention windows pass. Ransomware in OneDrive syncs to the cloud. Microsoft protects the service, not your data.

Scope

What is included

Written into the agreement, not implied. Anything outside this list is scoped and quoted as a project so your monthly cost stays predictable.
  • 01

    Licensing review and management

The right mix of Business Basic, Standard and Premium for each role, removed promptly for leavers, and reviewed as Microsoft changes its plans.

  • 02

    Migration

Moves from Google Workspace, on-premise Exchange, hosted email or another Microsoft tenant, planned around your working week with mail flow, DNS and staff communication handled.

  • 03

    Security hardening

MFA for all, conditional access, Intune device compliance, Defender for Business, secure score improvement, admin role separation and legacy authentication disabled.

  • 04

    SharePoint and Teams structure

Document libraries that replace the file server, a permissions model people can understand, and Teams governance so sprawl stops.

  • 05

    Microsoft 365 backup

Independent backup of Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams with retention you control, so accidental deletion, malicious deletion or ransomware is recoverable.

  • 06

    Day-to-day administration

User changes, shared mailboxes, distribution groups, email signatures via Exclaimer, mobile device setup and the questions staff ask every week.

Outcomes

What changes for the business

  • Licensing spend that matches the people and roles you actually have
  • MFA and conditional access protecting every account
  • Files people can find, with permissions that make sense
  • Recoverable data, independent of Microsoft's retention windows

FAQ

Questions we are asked

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call 020 8482 4020 or 01992 939 365 and ask an engineer.
Does Microsoft 365 back up my data?
Not in the way most businesses assume. Microsoft keeps the service running and offers retention windows and recycle bins, but once those windows pass, deleted mailboxes, files and Teams content are gone. Microsoft's own terms recommend third-party backup. We add independent backup of Exchange, OneDrive, SharePoint and Teams with retention you control.
Which Microsoft 365 plan should a small business use?
Business Standard suits most office staff who need desktop Office apps. Business Premium adds Intune device management and Defender security features that are worth the difference for any business handling client data or facing insurance questions. Business Basic works for frontline or occasional users. We review roles and recommend the mix rather than one plan for everyone.
How long does a migration to Microsoft 365 take?
A single-site business migrating from Google Workspace or hosted email typically completes in two to four weeks including planning, a pilot group, the main cut-over and follow-up. Larger data sets, on-premise Exchange servers and multi-site businesses take longer. Staff usually notice a short cut-over window, often over a weekend, and little else.
Can you secure our existing Microsoft 365 tenant without migrating?
Yes, and this is one of the most common projects we run. A security review of identity, MFA, conditional access, admin roles, email protection, sharing settings and audit logging produces a prioritised list of changes, most of which can be applied without disrupting staff.
Do you support Google Workspace as well?
We support businesses that run on Google Workspace and help those deciding between the two platforms. Our deeper expertise and tooling are around Microsoft 365, which is where most of our clients in Hertfordshire and London have standardised.
