Managed IT support

IT support in Essex for businesses

Managed IT, cyber security, Microsoft 365, networks, backup, phones and CCTV for west Essex and beyond, from a Hoddesdon team on the county border. In business since 2001.

In short

Dig IT Solutions provides managed IT support, cyber security, Microsoft 365, networking, backup, VoIP and CCTV to Essex businesses of up to 250 people. Our office is at Datum House, Essex Way, Hoddesdon, on the Hertfordshire side of the county boundary, so Harlow, Waltham Abbey and Epping are 20 to 25 minutes away and engineers attend on site typically the same day. Mid and east Essex are supported remote-first, with scheduled on-site visits.

Overview

How we cover the area

Essex is a big county, and we would rather be precise about which part of it we are close to. Our office is on Essex Way in Hoddesdon, less than two miles from the River Lea, which is the county boundary. Cross it and you are in Nazeing and Roydon, with Harlow about 20 minutes along the A414, Waltham Abbey about 20 minutes via the A10 and M25 or the B194 through Nazeing, and Epping 20 to 25 minutes round the M25. West Essex, broadly Harlow and Epping Forest district, is as close to us as most of Hertfordshire is, and it is where our on-site response is strongest. Dig IT has been in business since 2001, and the same engineers cover both sides of the boundary.

The work in west Essex comes in two kinds. The first is industrial. Harlow was built with its industry on the edges: Templefields and the Pinnacles carry engineering, food production, logistics and trade counters, while the Enterprise Zone, Kao Park and Harlow Science Park on London Road have added data centre, technology and life science firms and the specialist suppliers around them. Waltham Abbey's estates by junction 26 of the M25, and the Lea Valley glasshouse belt through Nazeing, are logistics, plant, vehicle and horticulture businesses with yards and warehouses. The second is professional: solicitors, accountants, estate agents, financial advisers and clinics on Epping High Street, Loughton High Road and in Chigwell, Buckhurst Hill and Ongar, most of them hybrid and run on Microsoft 365.

What an Essex business of up to 250 people usually wants from us is one accountable team. Managed IT support covers the helpdesk, monitoring, patching and Microsoft 365. Cyber security adds EDR on every device, email security, MFA and Cyber Essentials readiness, which firms that supply larger customers, from the Harlow technology cluster to the Stansted Airport corridor, are increasingly asked about. On the physical side we survey and install UniFi and Cisco Meraki Wi-Fi that works across racking and mezzanines, structured cabling, firewalls that separate office and warehouse networks, 8x8 phones and UniFi Protect cameras over yards. Backup, local and cloud with tested restores, covers the day a server dies. Many Essex firms also have a London office or a Hertfordshire site, and one team across every location is where we are strongest.

We are honest about the rest of the county. Loughton and Chigwell are about ten minutes beyond Epping. Bishop's Stortford, on the Hertfordshire side of the Stansted Airport corridor, is about 30 minutes via the A414 and M11. Brentwood, Chelmsford and the Romford and Ilford fringe are further, around 40 to 50 minutes or more depending on the M25 and the A414, and Colchester, Southend and the coast are further again. We support businesses there remote-first: most tickets are fixed through Splashtop while you are on the phone, monitoring and patching run in the background, and on-site work is booked as scheduled visits and full project days. If you are in Chelmsford and want an engineer in the building most weeks, a provider in the city is the better choice, and we will say so on the first call. If you have a head office in mid Essex and a depot in Harlow, Waltham Abbey or Enfield, we are worth a conversation.

Why Dig IT

Why businesses here choose us

  • 01

On the Essex border, and straight about it

Our office is at Datum House, Essex Way, Hoddesdon EN11 0DU, less than two miles from the county boundary. Harlow, Waltham Abbey and Epping are 20 to 25 minutes away. We do not claim an Essex office, and we do not claim to be close to Chelmsford or Southend.

  • 02

    Industrial estates are familiar ground

Templefields, the Pinnacles and the estates around junction 26 need warehouse Wi-Fi, cabling to scanners and machines, yard cameras and resilient connectivity. We design and install all of it ourselves with UniFi, Cisco Meraki and UniFi Protect.

  • 03

One team for support, security and the physical work

Helpdesk, Microsoft 365, EDR, backups, Wi-Fi, structured cabling, 8x8 phones and cameras are delivered by the same engineers. When the internet is slow, nobody has to work out whose fault it is before it gets fixed.

  • 04

Fixed per-device pricing, the same in every county

Indicative monthly figures per computer, phone, printer, firewall and server are published on our pricing page and estimated by our calculator. They are the same in Harlow and Epping as in Hertford, with no travel premium for crossing the Lea.

The Hertfordshire Golf & Country Club: a modern network inside a 16th-century mansion

The Hertfordshire Golf & Country Club at Broxbournebury Mansion, Broxbourne, needed an entire network built from nothing across a large, diverse site whose Grade II listed clubhouse made traditional cabling impractical. Dig IT Solutions designed a UniFi-based network, mesh Wi-Fi, guest access and a camera system, and has supported the club for over five years.

What clients say about working with us

Reviews left on Google by the businesses we support. Several name the engineer who did the work, which is how we like it.
“Dig IT Solutions helped us reorganise our messy network cabinet. They rewired and renumbered all Ethernet ports, installed a secure switch, and set up a shared drive for staff use. Everything was completed efficiently and to a high standard. I'm very pleased with the outcome and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Dig IT Solutions to anyone needing reliable IT support.”

FAQ

Questions we are asked

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call 020 8482 4020 or 01992 939 365 and ask an engineer.
Which parts of Essex do you cover for on-site IT support?
West Essex gets our fastest on-site response. From Hoddesdon we reach Harlow in about 20 minutes along the A414, Waltham Abbey in about 20, and Epping in 20 to 25, with Loughton and Chigwell around ten minutes further on. Roydon and Nazeing are closer still. Brentwood, Chelmsford and the rest of mid and east Essex are covered remotely with scheduled visits. Each town page lists the drive time so there are no surprises.
Do you have an office in Essex?
No. Our only office is at Datum House, Essex Way, Hoddesdon, which is in Hertfordshire, less than two miles from the Essex boundary at the River Lea. Engineers leave from there, so west Essex is as close to us as most of our home county. You can reach the same team on 020 8482 4020, the Enfield landline we have kept, or on our local number, 01992 939 365.
How much does managed IT support cost in Essex?
We price per device rather than per user, and the figures are the same in Essex as in Hertfordshire. Indicative figures, reviewed October 2026 and confirmed in a written quote, are £17.50 per computer or laptop, £16.50 per desk phone with the line included, £10 per network printer, £25 per router or firewall and £150 per server, each per month. A 20-person business with a firewall and a server typically lands in the mid hundreds per month. The cost calculator on our site gives an instant estimate and a scoping call confirms it.
We are in Chelmsford or Brentwood. Can you still support us?
Yes, on a remote-first basis, and we will be clear about what that means. Day-to-day tickets, monitoring, patching, Microsoft 365 and security are delivered remotely and work the same wherever you are. On-site work, such as installations, cabling and office moves, is booked as scheduled visits and full project days, because the drive is around 40 to 50 minutes or more depending on the M25 and the A414. If you need an engineer in the building most weeks, a provider nearer to you will suit you better.
Can you support a warehouse or production unit on an Essex industrial estate?
Yes. Industrial units are a large part of our work in Harlow and Waltham Abbey. That means Wi-Fi that reaches across racking and mezzanines, cabling to scanners, printers and machines, a firewall that separates office and production networks, UniFi Protect cameras over the yard and loading bays, and a backup plan that lets you keep despatching if a server dies. Where downtime costs real money we also arrange resilient connectivity, such as a leased line with 4G or 5G failover.
We have sites in Essex and in London or Hertfordshire. Can you cover them all?
Yes, that is the pattern we are built for. Every site gets the same helpdesk, monitoring, patching and security tools, we link them with site-to-site VPNs or a single Microsoft 365 tenant, and one phone system on 8x8 covers every location. Mr Plant Hire, a client for more than 15 years, runs multiple depots on exactly this pattern, with teleworker gateways, branch Wi-Fi, EDR and RMM managed centrally from Hoddesdon.
