IT health check

Find out where you actually stand before something forces the question

A structured review of security, backups, Microsoft 365, network and access, reported in plain English with priorities. You keep the report whatever you decide next.

In short

An IT health check from Dig IT Solutions is a fixed-scope review of the controls that matter most to a business of up to 250 people: identity and MFA, endpoint protection, email security, backups and recovery, network, patching, access and continuity. It produces a prioritised report you can act on with us or with any other provider.

Scope

What we review

  • 01

    Identity and Microsoft 365

MFA coverage, conditional access, admin roles, legacy authentication, sharing settings, licensing fit and audit logging.

  • 02

    Endpoints and patching

Protection coverage on every device, patch status for Windows and common applications, encryption, and unmanaged devices on the network.

  • 03

    Email security

SPF, DKIM and DMARC records, filtering configuration, and exposure to phishing and payment-diversion fraud.

  • 04

    Backup and recovery

What is backed up, where, how often, whether it is separate from production, retention, and when a restore was last tested.

  • 05

    Network and connectivity

Firewall configuration and updates, Wi-Fi security and segmentation, documentation, and single points of failure.

  • 06

    Access and leavers

Former staff and supplier accounts still active, shared passwords, admin privileges, and the onboarding and offboarding process.

  • 07

    Business continuity

What would happen in the first hour of a ransomware event, a server failure or an internet outage, and who would do what.

  • 08

    Insurance and compliance readiness

How your controls compare with what cyber insurers and Cyber Essentials expect, with the gaps listed honestly.

Process

How it runs

  1. 01

    Scoping call

Fifteen minutes to understand your setup, what you are worried about and what the report needs to answer.

  2. 02

    Review

Read-only access to Microsoft 365 and a short on-site or remote session to inspect devices, network and backups. Typically one to two days of engineer time depending on size.

  3. 03

    Report

A prioritised findings report in plain English: what is fine, what is a risk, what to fix first, and indicative effort for each item.

  4. 04

    Walk-through

We go through the report with whoever owns IT decisions. You keep the report whatever you decide to do next.

FAQ

Questions we are asked

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call 020 8482 4020 or 01992 939 365 and ask an engineer.
Is the IT health check free?
The scoping call is. The review itself involves engineer time and is quoted as a fixed fee based on your size, and that fee is credited against onboarding if you go on to become a managed client. We would rather charge a modest, honest fee than deliver a sales-led audit designed to frighten you.
Do we need to be a client to book one?
No. Many businesses use the health check to understand their position before deciding whether to change provider, to answer an insurer, or to give an internal IT person an independent second opinion.
What access do you need?
Read-only global reader access to Microsoft 365, temporary access to the firewall and backup consoles, and a short session with someone who knows the environment. We agree the scope in writing and remove our access afterwards unless you ask us to stay.
Can you help us fix what you find?
Yes, and the report gives indicative effort for each item so you can prioritise. You are equally free to give the report to your current provider and ask them to act on it.
How long does it take?
From scoping call to walk-through is usually one to two weeks, depending on access and availability. Urgent concerns, for example a suspected compromise, are handled immediately rather than waiting for the full review.
