What is it consultancy & strategy?

Dig IT Solutions provides IT consultancy for businesses across Hertfordshire and London: independent audits of your current environment, a 12 to 36 month roadmap with budgets, advice on cloud, security, Microsoft 365 and connectivity, office move and new site planning, and regular virtual CIO reviews. The advice comes from engineers who implement and support what they recommend, so it is practical rather than theoretical.

Problems we fix

The problems this service exists to solve

  1. 01

Decisions made without IT in the room

A new office lease signed before checking connectivity, software bought without asking how it integrates, a growth plan with no technology budget.

  2. 02

    No one owns the roadmap

Hardware ages until it fails, licences renew automatically, and the next problem is always a surprise.

  3. 03

Uncertainty about what good looks like

The directors do not know whether the current setup is adequate, over-engineered or dangerously behind.

  4. 04

    Questions from outside

An insurer, auditor, client or regulator asks for evidence of controls and policies nobody has written.

Scope

What is included

Written into the agreement, not implied. Anything outside this list is scoped and quoted as a project so your monthly cost stays predictable.
  • 01

    IT audit

A structured review of users, devices, Microsoft 365, network, security, backups, contracts and costs, with a prioritised report in plain English.

  • 02

    Roadmap and budget

A 12 to 36 month plan for replacements, upgrades, projects and licensing with costs by quarter, so spending is planned and defensible.

  • 03

    vCIO reviews

Regular sessions with a director or leadership team covering performance, risks, upcoming decisions and the roadmap.

  • 04

    Office moves and new sites

Surveys, connectivity lead times, cabling and Wi-Fi design, phones and move-day planning, from lease signing to the first day of work.

  • 05

    Cloud and software decisions

Independent comparison of options, integration and cost implications before you commit.

  • 06

    Policies and compliance readiness

Acceptable use, access control, backup and incident response policies, and preparation for cyber insurance and Cyber Essentials.

Outcomes

What changes for the business

  • Technology decisions made before they become expensive
  • A budget the finance director can plan around
  • Evidence and policies ready when someone asks
  • A second office or move that works on day one

FAQ

Questions we are asked

Straight answers. If yours is not here, call 020 8482 4020 or 01992 939 365 and ask an engineer.
Do we need IT consultancy if we already have IT support?
Support keeps things working. Consultancy decides what things should be. Many businesses have a competent helpdesk but nobody planning the next three years, which is how they end up with unplanned server replacements and licences they do not use. Our managed IT clients get roadmap reviews included; consultancy is also available on its own.
What does an IT audit involve?
We inventory users, devices, software, Microsoft 365 configuration, network, security controls, backups, contracts and costs, interview key people about what works and what does not, and produce a report with findings ranked by risk and a recommended plan. It typically takes one to two weeks depending on size and number of sites.
What is a vCIO?
A virtual chief information officer is a senior IT adviser who attends leadership meetings periodically to own the technology strategy, budget and risk register, without the cost of a full-time executive. For a business of 20 to 150 staff, a quarterly vCIO review usually provides the governance needed.
Can you help us plan an office move?
Yes. Connectivity is the item that most often derails a move, because leased lines and new fibre installs can take weeks. We survey the new premises, order connectivity early, design cabling, Wi-Fi and phones, and manage move day so staff sit down to working systems.
Are you independent of the products you recommend?
We deploy and support platforms including Microsoft 365, UniFi, Cisco Meraki, 8x8, HP and Dell because they work well for businesses our clients' size, and we say so. We do not take commission-led decisions, we show the options and costs, and the recommendation is written down with reasons.
